Rest in Me

This sounds like “good advice”, but it is a prescription for a reality.  You can rest in Me, but you must release the future and your fears to Me.   I will lead you.  I will guide you.

Now is the time of victory.  Now is the time of rejoicing.  Even as the enemy plans your demise.  I have set a trap for him.  As Daniel was thrown to the lions, I did not stop them, but I used their malicious act to bring eternal glory to Me and Daniel My anointed.  Therefore fear not the enemy, and fear not the lions.  For though they act, and though they attack, I am your protector.  I am your shield.  Stand in faith in this time, for the attacks of the enemy will come, but they cannot stop My calling and My purpose.

I am listening and I am paying attention to continual threats of this world.  But only one word from Me and the issue is settled.

Daniel 6:16,19--23

16      So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions' den. The king said to Daniel, "May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!"

19      At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions' den.

20      When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?"

21      Daniel answered, "O king, live forever!

22      My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king."

23      The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

Daniel 6:25-28

25      Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every language throughout the land: "May you prosper greatly!

26      "I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. "For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.

27      He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions."

28      So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Commentary

This prophetic word is a faith challenge from God that He gives to us at critical times in our life.  Though this word was received on a particular day, I believe it was more for the particular situation than the specific time.  The words references Daniel who was facing a great faith challenge while he was in captivity in Babylon.  As we are currently in a Babylonian society, I believe this is a message for our situation today.

The concept of rejoicing as the enemy plans your demise is not intuitive at most times of trouble in our life.  But what if the situation is being used by God or even created by God, as a faith test or opportunity to show His glory.  IN this case Daniel was slandered and ended up being thrown into the lion’s den.  God did not prevent this from happening.  But it ended up being a situation of a great faith victory for Daniel and great glory for Daniel and God.  Remember, God rewards us based on our acts of faith.  So even if Daniel would have been eaten by lions, he would have received a great reward in God’s coming kingdom.  But as it was, God rewarded his faith with the victory in this life that changed his world in this life and the life to come.

When Daniels jealous enemies had him thrown into the lion’s den, they believed they had won.  But God used the evil situation to turn the hearth of the king as well as destroy the enemies.  The words of the ling underlined in the passage above show the words of the King that revealed God’s glory.  Daniel may have prayed for the king, but I am sure he didn’t plan that the answers to his prayers would come this way.

Therefore, you current trial is in God’s hand.  As he says that “only one word from Me and the issue is settled”.  We should therefore appeal to Him to use the trial for His glory.  For He is the one who controls the king and the lions.
