Robe of Righteousness

Wondering what to wear this season?  I have prepared for you a new wardrobe that you must wear this season.  For I have been preparing you to walk in My truth, My grace, My love and My power.   Now I am giving you the royal robes of righteousness.  No longer can you walk as the world walks, but you are to walk as My priest, My ambassador, My bride.  For this day I am clothing you in my Son.  I am clothing you with righteousness, holiness, power, and glory.   For though you are still in this world, you can no longer walk as the world walks.  For you must walk as I walk to bring hope and light to those in the darkness.

See the new garments that I have prepared for you.   They are prepared with much detail and are of great value and carry My glory.  Walk worthy of the gift for you are no longer your own, but your identity rests in Me.   No solder wearing the uniform of his country should dishonor his country.  So it is with My priestly garments.  For I have clothed you with the majesty and glory from on high that you may be My hands and My feet and speak My words and demonstrate My love.  Be holy for the Lord your God is holy.

John 17:15-19

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.  As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.  For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

Romans 6:21-23

Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death.   But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Commentary

Clothing in the Bible often represents righteousness.  From the beginning in Genesis where man clothed himself with fig leaves, man has been trying to clothe himself to cover his nakedness and his shame.   But as it was in Genesis, mans attempt to clothe himself with righteousness was not adequate as God had to sacrifice an animal to provide a suitable covering for man.  Paul stated that our righteousness is as filthy rags compared to the righteousness of God who is our standard.  In the old testament, God spoke to Israel through Moses to say “Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy”          (Leviticus  19:2).  In the new testament, God spoke through Jesus to say “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”  (Matthew 5:48)  God desires that we be righteous and is clothing us with his righteousness as an act of His grace.

This word declares that God is sanctifying His true remnant church by giving them robes of righteousness which will allow us to walk in the righteousness of the Spirit and not carry out the deeds of the flesh.  However, we must receive this new gift as a new identity to walk as He walked, though we are still in this world.   For God Himself is giving us the power to be His witnesses in these last days. (Acts 1:8)  This means that we must be a true witness to the identity of God as Jesus manifested the will of the Father, that the world may know Him.

The exhortation is to “Walk worthy of the gift for you are no longer your own, but your identity rests in Me”.   Jesus said this as a warning for the last days in Luke 21:34-36.   Pay particular attention to Luke 21:36 which says “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”  Jesus warns that your escape from the tribulation and the position of standing before Him is at risk.  I believe the term “standing before Him” may refer to your position as the bride as opposed to a wedding guest.  This is further reinforced by Revelation 19:7-8 - Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.  Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)

Now is your moment to claim this word and declare that by His grace, you will live holy.   This word declares that “righteous grace” is at hand.  Don’t miss it.
