Clear the Way
Make straight the paths that lead to me. Clear the way before building the road. Do not pave the turns and hills, but make the way straight and clear. Only by walking and speaking faith can you see a straight path and share the truth of My Spirit to a confused and lost world. I have called you to challenge the obstacles that block the way, not create them or pave over them. Do not allow offense to gain a foothold, but challenge it with truth and love. For the judgment of My truth comes with grace and mercy. It points the way to life and wholeness, goodness and blessing, peace and joy. Therefore, as I pour forth My revelation upon you, seek to apply it to the healing of the wounded heart. For a restored heart receives and is nurtured by My truth, but a wounded heart resists even the revelation that brings healing.
Luke 4:18-19, 21
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.
Commentary
The prophetic word focuses on our witness to a world that resists God because of their wounds and fears. I am sure many resist God’s truth because of arrogance and self righteousness, but for many it is the hurts, disappointments, and fears that will not allow a person to receive God’s truth for their lives. Jesus addressed this in Luke 4 when He read from Isaiah 61 and recognized that those that are afflicted are the target audience of the gospel, since they recognize the need for a Savior. Jesus came and demonstrated healing of people’s bodies, but Luke 4 extends this mission to healing the issues of the heart. This includes those that are poor in spirit, prisoners to sin, those blinded from truth, and those oppressed by guilt and shame. Therefore, I believe this word is encouraging us to address the issues of the heart that are blocking and even resisting the revelation of truth and are blocking the way from this person to God. If you simply “pave over” the rocks by not addressing the hurts and wounds, you will find significant resistance to truth.
Consider what happened in the Garden of Eden when God came looking for Adam and Eve after they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil:
Genesis 3:9-10
But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
The shame of sin does not drive a person to God, but causes them to hide from Him.
Also consider John 4 with the woman at the well. Jesus recognized that she was drinking out of the wrong well in her life and recognized her thirst in her quest for love from men instead of from God:
John 4:15-18
The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water."
He told her, "Go, call your husband and come back."
"I have no husband," she replied.
Jesus said to her, "You are right when you say you have no husband.
The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true."
His word of knowledge allowed Him to address the real thirst in her life and led to a great salvation:
John 4:28-29
Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"
God is preparing His end time witnesses with healing anointing to heal those wounds that create shame and guilt. Jesus said in Luke 4:18 that the Spirit of the Lord was on Him because He was anointed to heal. If the Spirit of the Lord is on you, He has also anointed you to heal. Therefore, listen for a word of knowledge from the Lord and don’t be afraid to face the issues that come before you. What God reveals, He can heal.
