Walking Tall
Today I am calling you to walk tall. You who have sought My words and My ways. For as you have magnified Me, I am magnifying you. For you are growing larger and louder in the spirit and many will take notice. Those who have been called by Me will recognize My Spirit on you and your words will be honored. So speak wisely with authority and trust in God’s power and anointing to carry the message into the heart of man. For this is the authority of My Spirit. Walk worthy of your position, for you carry the stripes of endurance and the ring of your relationship with Me. Honor Me and I will honor you.
Luke 4:32-37
They were amazed at his teaching, because his message had authority.
In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, "Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-- the Holy One of God!"
"Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly. "Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!". And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.
Commentary
In this prophetic word, God is singling out those who have “sought My words and My ways” Lucky for us that God did not say those that have mastered His words and His ways. But He knows who have sought Him with their whole heart. To these people God is speaking that we should begin to walk with authority, which indicates that He is bestowing authority on us. The scripture in Luke 4:32-37 reveals the authority that Jesus demonstrated which amazed the people and caused them to spread the word of Christ.
The word continues that as we have magnified God, He will magnify us. To understand this I went to the words of Mary in Luke:
Luke 1:45-47
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Mary believed the words from the Lord in faith and through Her believe and confession, she magnified the Lord. The Greek for the word “magnified” is:
3170 megaluno (meg-al-oo'-no); from 3173; to make (or declare) great, i.e. increase or (figuratively) extol: KJV-- enlarge, magnify, shew great.
This is derived from the Greek “megas” meaning large or loud from which we get the adjective “mega”. As I looked at the English definition for magnify, I found that it can be summed up as: To make something larger, louder, brighter, or more important. Therefore when Mary said that her soul does “magnify” the Lord, then she is saying that her soul shows God larger, louder, brighter, and more important. I believe that our soul will magnify whatever it believes and is focused on. Mary believed the word from God and focused on it and magnified God. If we focus on our problems, we will magnify them. If we focus on our fear, we will magnify it. But if we live by faith in what God has said and focus on Him, we will magnify the Lord. The word says that if we magnify Him, He will magnify us. This means that He will make us larger, louder, brighter, and more important as we see this with Jesus in Luke 4:32-37.
The word continues with an exhortation to “walk worthy” of this position, for you have the stripes of endurance. This brings to mind;
Hebrews 12:2-3
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Jesus gained His authority by His obedience to God, even the cross as revealed in;
Philippians 2:8-9
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name
The ring of relationship is our promise ring as His bride that we carry His name and identity and we must walk worthy of our position and worthy of His name.
