Colossians 3
In this chapter Paul explains the importance of renewing the mind of Christ to the church of Colossians. Paul’s explanation of renewing the mind meant that we as believers must leave the mindset of our old sinful nature behind and construct a new mindset in Christ by allowing the word to manifest itself in our lives and surroundings. Paul states; God’s chosen people Holy and dearly loved, cloth yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. This means that we as believers of God and as children of God must love like Christ love, forgive as Christ forgave us, and walk as Christ walked the earth with the fullness of the fruit of the Spirit.
The Lord says: My character must manifest in your life because it allows the transformation of the heart and mind to take place each time you spend time in My word. My character manifests My glory and will bring a permanent balance to your life. When My glory is manifested in the lives of My church, not only will the body of Christ as individuals see success take place in their lives but others will notice it and be attracted to it.
Colossians 3:1-9
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices.
