Fresh Rain
After the rain, the air is clear and the flowers spring forth. For My rain cleanses and nourishes all of My creation. Without My rain, all life withers. But man builds works that do not benefit from My rain and even seek to seal it out. So it is also with the rain of My Spirit. While things that I create are cleansed and nourished by the rain of My Spirit, the works created by man resist and are even damaged by the rain of My Spirit. Today I am declaring that a great rain is coming very soon upon the earth. This rain will nourish My people and the works of My Spirit, but challenge the works of the flesh. Rejoice greatly in the fresh rain and be renewed, for it will bring new life, new growth, new fruit and new beauty to your life in My Spirit. Don’t seek shelter in religion or the affairs of the day, but experience the fresh rain and be fully drenched by the downpour. Though it may seem uncomfortable to some at first, It will surely bring forth new life to the things of My Spirit. So let it rain on you.
Isaiah 55:9-11
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Commentary
This prophetic word uses rain as an allegory of the effects of the pouring out of God’s Spirit. For us this would mean that God will pour His Spirit over us and our present situations as we invite His presence into our lives. As with rain, the Spirit will cleanse and nourish the things in your life that God has initiated, but will cause deterioration to the things that are not from Him. This is like rain in that when it rains on plants and God created things, then growth results. But things created by man will not grow, but instead deteriorate or rust. This prophetic word declares that God is going to pour out more of His Spirit on the earth. Consider these scriptures from Joel 2:
Joel 2:1
Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming. It is close at hand--
Joel 2:22
Be not afraid, O wild animals, for the open pastures are becoming green. The trees are bearing their fruit; the fig tree and the vine yield their riches.
Joel 2:28-29
I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
Here we see that the prophecies for the last days foretell of this event and in verse 22, the parallel of the rain to the Spirit can also be seen.
So what does this look like to us? What do we do to experience the rain? This word does not specifically tell us. But the words below give us some indication:
. . . Don’t seek shelter in religion or the affairs of the day, but experience the fresh rain and be fully drenched by the downpour . . .
This sentence indicates that it is hindered by religion and business as usual. The reference to religion probably relates to letting others manage your relationship with God such that you are not experiencing and relating to God directly. The reference to the affairs of the day relate to the daily chores and distractions that keep you from spending time with God and building your relationship with Him. Therefore, I believe that God is telling us to spend time directly with Him and invite Him into all parts of your life. Then you will experience growth in the things of God, while that the things that were not from Him will begin to decrease.
I believe that this pouring out will accelerate change in your life. So I would encourage you to ask God to rain on you.
