The Bonus Round
For you who have suffered. For you who have been discouraged. For you who have struggled. I have prepared a bonus. I am offering you today the miracle of blessing and favor if you will choose to listen to Me, to believe Me, and to step out for Me. For your suffering was not in vain but has positioned you for great grace. Many do not understand your fears and doubts. But I have been with you, and I know your trials, your victories and your failures. And I know that your heart has not turned from Me, and My heart has not turned from you.
So today, if you hear My voice, do not harden your heart, but leap forward with a new grace, a new power, and a new strength. Nothing is wasted and nothing is lost. I will repay you double in grace for your sorrows. Stretch out your withered hand, take up your pallet and walk. Now is your time.
John 5:6-9
6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?"
7 "Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me."
8 Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk."
9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,
Commentary
This prophetic word offers us an opportunity to catch up if we believe we have been left behind in the Kingdom. The ‘bonus round’ term is often used in TV game shows to describe a round where more points are given if you succeed, but the challenge may be a little harder. The word seems to indicate that this is for those that have suffered greatly through their situations, usually not of their own making. But even if it was based on your own making, I would claim this word and seek to hear His voice for a challenge to grab hold of and move forward.
The bible passage of John 5:6-9 is about someone who had been sick for a long time. But He did keep coming to the pool seeking to be healed. When Jesus asked him if He wanted to be well, he probably assumed that this was a commentary of the fact that the man was not successful though he had continued to come to the pool. But Jesus met the man where he was and told him to “get up”. Had he not done this, we don’t know what would have happened. But he did get up, and was he healed.
I believe this is a prophetic word much like the word the sick man received. Though he had brought a bed to make himself as comfortable as he could in his situation, Jesus was requiring that the man take up his bed, not wait to see if he would still need it. So now is the time to listen for His voice and decide that you will get up, take up your bed, and move on.
