First Fruits

Now is the time that tries men’s souls.  I am searching the heart of man to find the pearls of mercy, love, and truth.  For in this hour, I am harvesting the first fruit of the wheat harvest.  I am seeking those ready to present as evidence of the harvest to come.   For my anointing is flowing on my chosen and faithful, to do the works of the great harvest to come.  Are you ready to enter the fields?  Are you ready to plant, to water, and to harvest?  For these are the days when the harvester overtakes the planter, for I have already gone before to prepare the fields. 

Open your eyes to see what I have prepared before you.  See those ready to come forth into My kingdom.   Let your righteousness shine forth as the noonday sun, and I will shine My glory into a darkened world.  For today the new land awaits.  Cross over to the new land and claim My inheritance, for I have given you the nations.  Today, if you hear My voice, do not harden your heart.  For the harvest is bountiful, but the laborers are few.  Today I require your answer.  What is your report?

Hebrews 4:1-2

Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.  For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.

John 4:34-38

"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.    Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.

Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true.  I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor."

Commentary

God is searching the heart of man to find those ready to manifest His will, His nature, His glory.  He is choosing a remnant to go forth as laborers into the harvest.  These laborers are a first fruit of others to come.  These are those that are ready to do it His way and show forth who He is.   For those chosen, God has prepared a harvest of others that will also be laborers.  He will send forth this remnant to be a witness for Him that will be reproduced in the harvest of the new laborers.  But to take part as this remnant, you must choose to seek him, hear him, and follow His commands.  He has already gone before to prepare the hearts of these new laborers, so the harvesting will come quickly. 

However the warning is that it will take faith to enter into the promise land of this harvest.  As He warns in Hebrews, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart”  Ten of the spies sent into the promised land came back with bad reports and failed to walk by faith.  Only two, a remnant were willing to enter and believe God.  Therefore it is not the hearers of the word that will succeed, but the doers who manifest faith.

In John 4:34-38. Jesus answers the challenge that we should not say there in four months to the harvest.  It is interesting that it is about four months from now to the first fruits harvest (April 8-14, Easter Sunday is April 8).   But Jesus says the fields are ready for harvest now.  He is even sending us to reap what we have not labored for, for His Spirit has already prepared the way.

So if you hear the calling today, do not harden your heart, but move forward in faith.
